A trip to Tanji fishing village always seems to sum up The Gambia - a riot colour and smiling faces. The bringing in of the fish usually occurs in the early-to-mid-afternoon, so we advise arriving here for around 1 o'clock. This ensures you'll see the various boats coming in and be able to see the frantic activity in the smoking sheds. Tanji Village Museum is the first private museum in The Gambia and are presenting the ethnographic and natural history of the country. The museum was founded in 1997 and we believe it is our mission to preserve the real Gambian culture, which is rapidly dying duo to western influences.
